Tournament Rules - 2023

General

  1. Participating teams and players must be from the 2023 Intermediate or Junior Little League Age Division.
  2. The team roster can have up to 16 players.
  3. Little League Tournament Rules will apply for mandatory play (minimum 1 at bat per game for all players).
  4. A minimum of eight (8) players is necessary to start a game; the ninth position in the batting order will be an automatic out. Note: teams with less than eight (8) players will automatically forfeit the game.
  5. Home and Away will be determined by a coin toss for every game.
  6. Games will be planned for seven (7) innings, with no run limit set on any inning.
  7. Due to time constraints, there will be a mercy rule. Any team that is trailing by ten (10) or more runs after four (4-1/2 or 5) innings will concede the game.
  8. The time allotted per game is 2 hours. The top of no new inning should commence after 1 hr 45 mins has elapsed from the start time of the game (provided the game is not tied).
  9. If after five (5) innings of play, the umpire feels that the seventh inning will not be completed, the umpire will confer with both coaches at the beginning of each inning to decide if another inning can be played. If seven innings cannot be played, the umpire will announce the last inning prior to start of the top of that inning.
  10. If after the "called" last inning of play the game is tied,  additional innings will be played to determine the winner.
  11. Balks will be called by umpires.

Pitching

  1. The pitching distance will be 54 feet.
  2. A pitcher will be removed if they hit four (4) batters in the same inning or six (6) batters in one game.
  3. A manager or coach may come out twice in one inning to confer with the same pitcher. On the third visit, that pitcher must be removed from the pitcher’s position.
  4. Each team is allowed three trips from their coach/manager to the pitcher during the game. On the fourth visit, that pitcher will be removed regardless of their involvement or not with any of the previous visits.
  5. Little League Pitch Count Rules will be in effect, including days rest and the following;
  • Pitchers that throw 41 or more pitches CANNOT play the position of catcher for that GAME/DAY.
  • If a player plays the position of catcher for 4 or more innings, they CANNOT pitch that GAME/DAY.

Weather

  1. Attempts to re-schedule rained-out games will be made.

Scorekeeping

  1. CLL will provide the official scorekeeper & pitch count log keeper for all games.
  2. We suggest that each team also has a scorekeeper, and that those scorekeepers keep checking with the official and each other to ensure that there are no discrepancies regarding the score and with the pitch count.

Miscellaneous

  1. Positive cheering only. Attempts to distract or intimidate opposing players will not be permitted. Coaches will be asked to assist in controlling offending fans.
  • 1st infraction: player/coach will be warned.
  • 2nd infraction: player/coach will be removed from the game.
  • Game forfeited for 3rd team offence.
  1. Only Official Little League approved bats are permitted (USA Baseball Bats & BBCOR bats, along with one piece wood bats).
  2. No USSSA bats.
  3. ABSOLUTELY NO PROTESTS!!!!!
